Standby Generator Installation in NY & NJ

Keep the lights, heat, sump pump, and fridge running through any outage. We size, install, and service whole-home standby generators with automatic transfer switches that kick in on their own.

/ OVERVIEW

When the power goes out, a standby generator starts automatically — usually within seconds — and runs your home on natural gas or propane until utility power returns. No cords, no gas cans, no dragging a portable unit out in a storm.

The install is as much electrical as mechanical: sizing the unit to your home’s real load, setting the transfer switch, and tying into your panel and fuel safely. We handle all of it, plus the permit and the maintenance that keeps it reliable.

What affects the cost

Every home is different, so we quote each job after we understand it — then you approve a clear, flat-rate price before any work starts. No mystery line items. These are the things that move the number:

  • Generator size (essential circuits vs. whole home)
  • Whole-home vs. a managed/essential transfer switch
  • Distance to the panel and the fuel source
  • Fuel type and any gas-line work needed
  • Pad, placement, and code clearances

/ FAQ

Standby Generators — common questions

What size generator do I need?

It depends on what you want to run — just the essentials (heat, fridge, sump, some lights) or the whole house. We do a load calculation and size the unit so it's neither under- nor over-built for your home.

Does a standby generator turn on by itself?

Yes. It monitors your power and starts automatically when the utility drops, then shuts down when it returns. The automatic transfer switch handles the changeover safely.

Natural gas or propane?

Either. If you have a gas line, natural gas means you never refuel. Propane is the answer where there's no gas service. We'll coordinate the fuel hookup either way.

Do generators need maintenance?

They do — like any engine. We service and test them so they actually start when you need them, not just when they were new.
